At present, there is only one water and sewer district in the Township, located in and around the Village of Bowers. This water and sewer system serves approximately 150 residences and businesses.
The water supply consists of a spring and two wells which are located along Bowers Road near the Maxatawny/Rockland Township line. Water is pumped into a 150,000 gallon storage tank which affords adequate pressure for domestic needs and fire protection, as well as storage capacity for the needs of the users for six days. The water supply is tested periodically as required by the Department of Environmental Protection to ensure the highest quality of water for its customers.
The sewage collection system was installed in the Village of Bowers during the summer of 1998, with connection to the system by its customers early 1999. The sewage is pumped to the Lyons Borough Municipal Authority Sewage Treatment Plant where it is treated and the effluent is discharged into the Saucony Creek.
If you are experiencing any problems with either your drinking water or sewage system, please do not hesitate to contact the Township as soon as possible. Also, if you suspect a leak in the water system, please contact the Township so the problem can be checked and repaired.
