Township Road Department

The Township Roadmaster is Richard P. Grim. The Township employs several part-time workers to assist with seasonal work such as snow plowing, road paving, etc. The telephone number of the Township Garage is (610) 683-3898, and is located at 127 Quarry Road, Suite 1, Kutztown, Pa. 19530. Mr. Grim can be reached during the hours of 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday. There is an answer machine at this number, if Mr. Rim is out of his office, please leave a message and he will return your call.

The Road Department is constantly repairing and maintaining approximately 73 miles of Township roads. Includes in regularly scheduled maintenance are:

* Permanent repair, patching and crack sealing
* Shoulder grading and drainage repairs
* Line painting
* Snow plowing
* Street sweeping
* Sign maintenance and replacement

On a yearly basis, the Township oils and chips approximately 5 miles of roadway. In preparation for this work, if any drainage pipes need attention, this work is also performed.

The Road Department is responsible for all traffic control signs, signals and markings. To report damaged or missing signs or malfunctioning traffic signals, please contact the Township Garage at (610) 683-3898 between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, or (610) 683-6518 between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. If there is no answer, please leave message on answer machine.

Street lights are installed for pedestrian and motorist safety in developed areas. The Township may require all new developments to install proper street lighting according to specifications of Met-Ed and Township Ordinance. To report a street light not working, please report the location of the light by calling the Township at (610) 683-6518 between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
